Helping to find the
Asian Long-horned Beetle

Helping out: when you are looking through your binoculars, take a moment to scan for any sign of Asian Long-horned Beetles.

By now, the majority of us have heard about the devastating impact that the invasive Asian longhorned beetle has had in the Worcester area - Worcester has already lost 30,000 trees, and a satellite infestation of ALB was found in Boston this past July. Our state needs all the help it can get in spotting any new infestations as early as possible.

We have two tools available (besides our binoculars, our observation skills, and the fact that we are outside looking around us):

  • an ALB ID card (which will be handed out to as many teams as possible at the HBC meeting December 15th)
  • information from the Massachusetts Department of Natural Resources Conservation: massnrc.org/pests/alb (then click on Report ALB to get really good ID information)
  • For more information, contact
